WHAT HAPPENS IF I MISS MY APPOINTMENT/ DO I HAVE TO GIVE NOTICE TO CANCEL?
Your appointment time is reserved just for you. A late cancellation or missed visit leaves a hole in the therapists’ day that could have been filled by another patient.
In any circumstance that you do not give 24 hours notice for a cancellation or change in your appointment, we will require a credit card on file for future booking.
If you do not provide a minimum of 24 hours notice to cancel an appointment your credit card will be charged 50% of the appointment fee
WHAT SHOULD I EXPECT AT MY FIRST APPOINTMENT?
Before your first appointment begins we require you to fill out an intake/health history form. We recommend that you fill out your forms online before your appointment, however, if you are unable to fill them out in advance we suggest arriving 10 minutes early to your appointment. This gives you enough time to fill out the forms before your appointment starts. The intake form gives us insight into your current and past health history (injuries, surgeries, pathologies etc) and gives us the knowledge to provide you with the best possible care.
Next, your massage therapist will review your health history and ask you questions, conduct assessments if necessary and find out what your primary area of concern is so he/she can give you the best focused treatment possible. All of the information given in your health history and conversations during your treatment are kept confidential.
I’M NERVOUS ABOUT GETTING A MASSAGE THERAPY TREATMENT FROM SOMEONE I DON’T KNOW.
We understand that receiving massage therapy can cause some apprehension the first time. All of our therapists are well trained and understanding of your feelings and will do whatever they can to make your experience as comfortable as possible. Once settled into the massage therapy session most clients find their nervousness goes away.
WILL I BE SORE FROM THE MASSAGE?
This depends on the amount of pressure used throughout your massage. Your therapist will check in periodically to ask how the pressure is. If you ask for deep pressure, you may be a little tender the next day.
If at anytime the pressure is too much, let your therapist know right away.
IS “NO PAIN, NO GAIN TRUE”?
Not necessarily, to release a trigger point or “knot” your therapist may use pressure on that tender area, however, if the pressure is too much it will only cause your body to tense up which is the opposite effect that we would like during a massage.
WHAT SHOULD I WEAR?
What you chose to wear during a massage is completely up to you and what you are comfortable with. You’ll be able to talk to your therapist prior to your massage to discuss what areas you would like worked on. Your therapist will generally use a massage gel directly on your skin to that area. If you are not comfortable removing clothes from the area treated your therapist can provide an “over clothes” massage.
IS MASSAGE THERAPY SAFE WHILE PREGNANT?
Yes, Massage Therapy is safe during pregnancy. All of our therapists are trained to do prenatal massage. Let your therapist know before your massage so it can be modified.
